CAMPS BAY & CLIFTON BEACHES IN CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

As you drive out of Cape Town city center towards the south—following the coast road, you will be met by astonishing and heart-stirring views of the ocean and an exclusively posh neighborhood. This place is called Camps Bay, known for its famous promenade (that is full of trendy restaurants and shops), Camps Bay Beach, and four Clifton beaches (Clifton 1st to Clifton 4th).

Camps Bay Beach has white sand and overlooks Lion’s Head Mountain (where people go for stunning city views as the alternative to the best attraction of Cape Town, Table Mountain) that forms a stunning backdrop to the sea town. Usually guided tours stop here for tourists to explore the area. Unfortunately, most of the year the water in the ocean is cold for most people, hence only a few people swim.

From Camps Bay Beach, cross Victoria Road (that stretches from Sea Point to Hout Bay Beach, close to Bay Harbour Market) and enjoy the restaurants and shops at The Promenade, located near The Bay Hotel.

From Camps Bay Promenade, drive up Victoria Road to the Clifton Beaches—Clifton 4th being the most popular seconded by Clifton 1st. There is not much to do on these beaches except for swimming and sunbathing on the beautiful white sand—there are no shops or restaurants like those found at The Promenade in Camps Bay.
