Malawi Travel Vaccinations

Different countries require different immunizations depending on health concerns at any given time. In Africa, vaccinations that have been recommended and necessary over the years include yellow fever, typhoid, and cholera. It is advisable to check if you are up to date with hepatitis A and B, polio, and other routine immunizations in your country.

Malaria is present in Malawi, and it is essential to take malaria medication before traveling. You should begin taking it a few days before departure, as per your physician’s instructions. There is no malaria vaccine, but medication is effective.

Travelers arriving in Malawi from a yellow fever-endemic country must provide proof of yellow fever vaccination. For a complete list of recommended Malawi travel vaccinations, visit the Centers for Disease Control website.
