Powerscourt Estate and Gardens, Ireland
Powerscourt Estate is located in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Ireland. It is located just 40 minutes away from Dublin. I drove to powers court but you can take a bus as well. For example bus 44 from O’Connell Street in Dublin and bus 185 from Bray Dart Station to Enniskerry. I didn’t see any buses that went all the way to Powerscourt Estate grounds except for tourist buses. I believe if you use public transport you have to get off at a small village of Enniskerry which is about 40 minutes away by foot (about 2.5 km). If you can’t walk that far then you might have to get a taxi from Enniskerry. In my opinion, it’s better to use a car to go there.
Triton Lake at Powerscourt Estate
The fountain in Triton Lake at Powerscourt gardens is based on the fountain in Piazza Barberini in Rome.

Powerscourt House & Italian Garden
Powerscourt House and its gardens are what people want to see when they visit. Tne Italian Garden, which is right by the steps, is about landscaping and design. The terraces were designed in the 1840s by an architect called Daniel Robertson. It took 100 men over the years to build! Around this area, you will find a lot of sculptures including that of Apollo Belvedere and Diana which were collected from all over Europe by the 6th and 7th Lord Powerscourt.
Tower Valley
Pepperpot Tower is found in the tower valley at Powerscourt Estate. It is stated that the Pepperpot Tower was modeled on a pepperpot from Lord Powerscourt’s dining table. When you climb the tower’s winding steps you can enjoy the views of Powerscourt House and Gardens. Lord Powers court encouraged troops to camp on the grounds of Powerscourt. The tower at Powers court is surrounded by trees planted over two centuries ago.
The Japanese Garden
The Japanese garden was created in 1908 by the 8th Viscount and Viscountess Powerscourt. The grotto is one of the oldest features of Powerscourt gardens.
Pet Cemetery
This is one of Ireland’s largest pet cemeteries; many of family pets are buried here.
Dolphin Pond
The dolphin pond was bought in Paris by the 7th viscount in the late 19th century. There is a gate called ‘The English Gate’ with rose, thistle and shamrock motifs representing England, Scotland, and Ireland. From here you go through the gate into the walled gardens.
The Walled Gardens
In the walled gardens, you will find ‘Julia’s Memorial’ which is a pond built in honor of the 7th Viscounts mother. There is also ‘Bamberg Gate’ which came from the cathedral at Bamberg, Germany and is 240 years old.
