FALL WINTER 2021 FASHION TRENDS FOR TRAVEL
With borders opening up and people getting comfortable and excited to travel again, it’s time to look into fall winter 2021 fashion trends. Designers showcased many new and old styles in the fashion week shows for the fall and winter seasons of 2021. The colors have gone bolder, the coats puffier, and denim designs more intricate, just to mention a few. For those just caring for something warm to throw on top when rushing to the airport, or for a quick sightseeing trip, or a quick stop to admire a view when road tripping—be inspired by a fringe pullover or a knit wrap from designers like JW Anderson, Jil Sander, and Missoni.
Patterns
And the patterns fashion trend soldiers on. Whether it’s a bodysuit, leggings, long dresses, tops, and jackets, you will not go wrong. Mixing different-looking patterns for a head-to-toe look is even better as it makes a bigger fashion statement. Louis Vuitton, Thebe Magugu, Duro Olowu, and Simone Rocha really brought this floral and other patterns to life on the fall 2021 runway.

Denim
Denim has always been in fashion and for the latest fashion trends, nothing has changed. Whether it is just a pair of jeans trouser/short (clean-cut, low cut and loose, or wide leg), a patchwork denim jacket, or an explosion of denim from head to toe. Designers like Balenciaga, Alberta Ferretti, Y/Project, and Victoria Beckham proudly contributed creatively to these trending jeans.
Knits
Knits are here to stay especially in the fall and winter seasons—large sweaters, pullovers, dresses, skirts, and etcetera. What changes are the different styles that designers showcase on the runway and it’s clear that everyone has put on their creativity hats to push the boundaries. Salvatore Ferragamo, Chloe, The Row, Altuzarra, Ulla Johnson, Rick Owens, Fendi, and Khaite presented the knit trend really well in their fall fashion shows. Traveling in the fall and winter calls for warmth and comfort, and these are perfectly served by knits. Throws, ponchos, capes, as well as wraps, can be a perfect fashion piece for warmth while traveling. Designers like Gabriela Hearst, Jonathan Anderson, Stella Jean, and Missoni showcased this wrap trend really well.
Leather Quilted
When traveling, almost everyone packs a thick jacket or a coat just in case the weather turns. In the winter season, it is a must and in the fall it is strongly recommended. For the fall and winter seasons, try leather jackets with quilts or those that are puffed and oversized. Bold colors are particularly making big statements—yellow, brown, pink, purple, and etcetera—they also look good in nude colors. Designers like Marni, Dolce & Gabbana, Tom Ford, and Miu Miu were among the brands that used leather.
Laces
Playing with laces is no longer for kids learning crafts and sewing. Some of the best designers are standing by lace trends on different clothing items such as biker shorts, tops, and jackets—Valentino, DSquared, and Gabriela Hears.
Big Big Bags
This fashion trend of carrying very big-sized bags is ideal for travel. This way you hit three goals at once—airport /road trip, sightseeing, and beach. A lot of respected designers like ACNE, Fendi, and Khaite, showcased this trend on their runways.
Leopard Prints
Leopard prints are not going away anytime soon, they have always been among trending clothes, designers have reinvented this look over and over again over the years. Whether it is a dress, coat, puffer jacket, trench coat, faux-fur jacket, suit coat, or an accessory like hat or belt, a little print adds excitement. Designers like No.21 and R13 did not hold back in their quests to make prints and spots bigger than ever.
Fringe
Fringe trims, hems, and attachments are continuing as fall trends of 2021. They are on tops, skirts, sweaters, dresses, and etc. Salvatore Ferragamo and Proenza Schouler are some of the designers that showcased fringe trims in their fashion shows.
Cutouts
For some skin showing in the fall try cutouts. This fashion trend is best for the fall travel wardrobe. In the winter, it might be too cold for you to wear anything that lets the cold air in. The brand, 3.1 Phillip Lim, had good cutouts. The cutout turtleneck in particular looks very cool.
Sweater Vests
The current fashion trends presented on the fall fashion week shows had a fair share of vests layered on top of blouses, shirts, or worn on their own as standalone tops. Designers who stood out showcasing this vest trend include Staud, Apiece Apart, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. For those traveling to colder destinations, you can layer a vest on top of a dress, blouse, and shirt; for a warmer country, you can choose to wear the vest as the only top.
Ski Accessories
Yes, you may not be going skiing this fall and winter, but you can snap on a puffer or gloves and hats to copy this look. Designers that showcased this look, perfect for a winter travel wardrobe, include Emilio Pucci, Thom Browne, Angel Chen, and Miu Miu.
Tights or Leggings that are Printed
There is nothing more interesting than covering those legs with colorful prints that scream fashion. These printed tights have been around for a while but the boldness of the prints is getting better and better. Designer brands that adopted this fall trend include Prabal Gurung.

The pretty soft color stood out at different fall fashion weeks. Nanushka, Self Portrait, and Fendi showcased the power of soft pink in clothes. Whether it’s a top, sweater, puffy jacket, or a dress, you are on one of the latest trends if you wear pink.
Sequins
Sequins are perfect for evening outings, but we have been seeing designer brands like Valentino, Givenchy, Alberta Ferretti, and Loewe pushing boundaries creating day sequin looks—trousers, jackets, and large dresses. For a bold travel style that screams trendy and forward-thinking fashion, try this loud style.
