SPRING SUMMER TRAVEL FASHION TRENDS 2022
These fashion trends are inspired by designers that showcased on the spring/summer 2022 runways. Starting from September 2021 in New York, to London, and proceeding to Milan and Paris.
BOLD COLORS & BLOCKING
Colors that are bold and bright were popular on the summer/spring 2022 runways. A lot of color combinations, especially bold colors. Valentino inspired with his bold blues and browns combinations. Proenza Schouler and Saint Laurent had one solid bold color in their clothing items.
Christian Siriano also showed some color blocking. Naomi Campbell wore a beautiful pink suit with an orange top inside by Versace. What a perfect color blocking. Other designers combined greens and pinks, browns and greens, and yellows and reds. Gucci had different shades of greens blocking each other.

BOHEMIAN & AFRICAN INSPIRED
The bohemian look has been steadily rising over the years. The trend seems to have grown into a permanent style. Not only were fashion designers presenting the bohemian look, but also the rich and deep earthy colors for an African inspired look.
Johanna Ortiz, Gabriela Hearst, and Givenchy featured some of the best bohemian and African inspired looks. Examples of clothing items carried by designers were wrap dresses, big jackets, long skirts and pants. Most of these pieces had rich patterns with an artisan feel.

CLEAN & NEUTRAL
For many for a couple of years now, many people have pursued the minimalist look. Wearing one neutral color from head to toe was some designers’ to-go-to on the runways. All creams, all beiges, all off whites, and etcetera. Chloé, Altuzarra, Valentino, and Hermès had very good clean looks.

FEATHERS ALL THE WAY
Well, the feathers trend has been around for a while and expanded from night wear to casual day wear. Dresses and top with feathers or feather-like look are the most sought after. Valentino delved deep into this trend and showcased a full feather attire. Other designers settled for bags and shoes that had feathers.
PLATFORM SHOES
Platform shoes come in so many ways—high platform heels, clogs, platform sandals, and so forth. For travel, the best platform shoes are the ones that are not too high and those you can maneuver in. Gucci and PatBo had some of the best sandals and clogs that are both stylish and best for travel.
CATSUITS ARE STILL GOING STRONG
Catsuits are perfect for travel because of their flexibility. You can throw a jacket or coat in the bag to wear when it gets chilly. Balmain, Victor Glemaud, Roberto Cavalli, Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, carried good catsuit pieces.
BACK TO SCHOOL ATTIRE
Back to school looks are perfect for your spring/summer travel style. You don’t see a lot of travelers opting for such a look—one would make a fashion statement.
Designers like Y/Project, Lacoste, Botter, and Raf Simons dressed their models well. This fashion trend has been around for a while and every year the trend gets bigger and bolder. Sweaters are the most loved by designers, seconded by knee length socks.
EXTRA LARGE BAGS WITH ATTITUDE
Bulky large bags are not only fashionable, but they are super handy for travelers. You can take them to the airport as your personal handbag. You can also stroll around your destination when sightseeing and shopping.
The bolder the color the bigger the statement. But for minimalists folks out there, grab your nude and neutral colors. Max Mara, Tory Burch, and Richard Quinn showed the trend of extra large tote bags in their 2022 spring/summer fashion shows.

SKIRTS OVER BIKINIS
Designers like Chanel, Isabel Marant, Rejina Pyo, and Coach showcased the trend of wearing bikini tops with skirts. For travelers, this would work handy at the beach—turn that nice long or short skirt into a cover up. You can even wear a bikini top on top of a tshirt, the way Isabel Marant’s model was dressed.
