On the southern coast of Spain, near Africa, lies Torremolinos. Originally a small fishing village, in the 1950s it started to become a popular vacation getaway because of its sandy beaches and nice bluish water. The official language of Spain is Spanish but English is also widely spoken in this area because of many british sunseekers who flood the Costa del Sol. Euro as its official currency. With regards to weather, it is around 30ºC (86ºF) in the summer and in the upper Celsius teens during the winter (60s in ºF). There are cool breezes during the summer times and occasional rainfall in the winter.

La Carihuela Beach is popular for tourists, as it is a quality Mediterranean beach with beautiful sand and waves. It also has restaurants and ice cream parlors to enjoy. People come from all over Costa del Sol resort towns to enjoy the sandy beach clubs at La Carihuela. The restaurants on the boardwalk are very popular for their delicious Spanish food. PLAYA JOSE LUIS

Playa Jose Luis is a beach along the Paseo Maritimo road and full of life. This beach is full of sun seekers who are staying in the hotels along the Paseo Maritimo road. The beach is loved by families.

SALTILLO BEACH

Saltillo Beach has hotels, bars, and restaurants nearby. It is very popular among surfers due to its waves. It also has sunbeds for rent, volleyball areas, and play areas for children.

COSTA LAGO BEACH

Costa Lago Beach is very popular among the youth. It has many beach bars and restaurants. It is a very pretty spot, with a lot of green areas and palm trees.

PLAZA DE ANDALUCIA

There is everything at this public square. Shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a tourist information office, and etcetera. You will have a good outing here, eating a nice meal in one of the restaurants while watching people admiring the water fountain in the middle of the square.

NOGALERA PLAZA

This plaza is perfect for finding shops and restaurants for your Spanish experience. Carnivals shows and festivals also take place in this area.

AQUALAND TORREMOLINOS

This waterpark has many slides, pools, jacuzzis, gardens, and even a mini golf area. Twice a year they play loud music by professional DJs at their wave pool, quite a sight to behold!

PLAZA DEL LIDO

At this public square you will see two people holding hands while running. The statue is planted right on the roundabout and the surrounding pavement is filled with stores. On the other side across from this square is a lovely popular beach, Playa Bajondillo.

CASA DE LOS NAVAJOS

This ancient manor is available to tour, completely free. It is open 11am – 1pm and 6pm – 8pm every day except Monday and Tuesday. From this restored house you can observe picturesque views of the ocean.

CROCODILE PARK

A tour of about two hours is what you can expect from this sanctuary for crocodiles. Admission is about 16 Euros a person, plus 5 more if you want a photo holding a baby crocodile! It is open 11am – 5pm.

GARDEN OF EAGLES

This location is open 10-2 every day except Sunday and also 3-6 every day except Saturday and Sunday. This location is a sanctuary for large birds and has shows where they demonstrate what the birds can do.

COSTA BOAT CHARTERS

Open 10am -8pm every day, this company provides seamless booking for trips out on the sea. There you can see dolphins, rock formations, and the beautiful Spanish coast. It is just around 16 Euros a person.

BUTTERFLY PARK OF BENALMADENA

This location is just outside Torremolinos but not far. It is open 10 am – 7:30 pm every day, and showcases a wide collection of butterflies. Only around 10 Euros a person, you can experience being around butterflies from all around the world.

PLAZA COSTA DEL SOL

Plaza Costa Del Sol is a wonderful social location with access to public transport. It has many shops, cafes, and restaurants. This is an excellent place to sit down with a coffee and observe daily life.

CALLE SAN MIGUEL

Calle San Miguel is a straight street full of shops and restaurants overlooking the beach. This is an excellent place to just walk around and experience Spanish culture and the Mediterranean coast.

MERCADILLO DE LA MODA

Mercadillo de la Moda shopping mall has many locations selling clothing and is recommended very positively by local guides.

El Gato Lounge: Open noon to 10:30 pm every day, this restaurant serves Spanish foods and alcohols and has an excellent view of the mediterranean sea.

Vintage 8: Open 1-4:15 and 7-11:15 every day, this location has Moroccan style foods with excellent service and tapas.

Spanish Garden: A popular restaurant, you may have to book in advance. This location is well known for its excellent 3-course meals.

LOCAL FOOD TO TRY 

Fried Fish: A tradition of this fishing community is to serve fried fish on the beach.

Malaga Styled Salad: Made with potatoes, oranges, cod, spring onions, olives, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, and salt.

Gazpacho: A soup made out of vegetables and tomato and served cold.
