Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and Shopping, Cape Town, South Africa
Strolling in the vibrant pedestrian paths, one can't help but notice how clean and well managed the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront shopping areas are. This is an upscale area of the city of Cape Town—all tourists flock here for shopping and water activities, after coming back from the Table Mountain. The shops here are slightly more expensive than those in other shopping places in Cape Town.
The area surrounding Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre, which is located at 19 Dock Road, is very lively and has good attractions. Nearby, you will find the colorful neighborhood of Bo-Kaap. Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre is very close to the waterfront—boats are parked here, on the docks. The shops found here are a mixture of clothing stores and craft shops.
Right outside the mall, the Cape Wheel stands in its glory—stunning views of Cape Town can be seen from here. On the other side of the mall, there is a roundabout with colorful steps leading to Somerset Hospital. The steps are next to a public parking building that is best for long term parking and reasonably priced.
Other places to shop in this area are V&A Waterfront Shopping Mall and the Watershed (which is a craft market at 17 Dock Road). Two Oceans Aquarium is another place of attraction on the famous Dock Road. Right on S Arm Road, you will find the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa.
